Totally shocking, breaking Banksy news!!!
If you’ve become accustomed to seeing the very famous street artist’s stencils being boarded up, made a fuss about and chiseled out of the walls of Detroit and Palestine (PALESTINE for fuck’s sake!) and then sold off at an auction, all shady-like…
It happened again. This time to that hyped one Banksy did recently to criticize the Queen — a child in a sweatshop making Jubilee bunting, Slave Labour. It has been ripped out of the wall and put up for auction in the US. It was good for tourism. EVERYONE IS VERY VERY UPSET.
It’s on this US-based Fine Art Auctions Miami site, with a starting bid of $400,000 and a guide price of $500,000 – $700,000.
I like this part: “Buyer is liable for shipping and handling.” Translation: “Buyer is financially and morally responsible for getting a gigantic slab of autographed wall overseas and into your basement for your rich friends to look at and silently judge you.”
