Bronx Soles, an exhibit on display this month at BronxArtSpace, features the work of artists Osjua A. Newton, Sean Paul Gallegos, Andre Trenier and Jason Shaw. The sneaker-themed exhibit will feature paintings, sculptures, photography and art directly on kicks. Linda Cunningham, the curator, feels that the message of Bronx Soles is the possibilites of what a sneaker can represent.
“The focus is the iconic sneaker, the forms shoes take in defining identity, the multiple meanings they carry,” Linda Cunningham, who curated the exhibit, said.
While curating, Cunningham looked for works with “extraordinarily quality, craftsmanship” and “cleverness.”
