Melt Your Face With This “4-Dimensional” Interactive
Webcam App

March 18, 2013 | Andy Cush

If you’re a photography wonk, you might be interested to know that this interactive webcam app digitally replicates an analog imaging process called slit-scanning, first developed on the set of 2001: A Space Odyssey. If you’re someone, who, like me, just likes playing with trippy stuff online, stop reading now and click the link.

Created by Australian former Google UI designer Cameron Adams (aka themaninblue), the free web app appears to take a series of still images at a variable time interval, then superimpose each over the last in a segment that moves from left to right across the screen. Even without knowing what’s going on technically (I don’t), it’s still a joy to fuck around with. Thanks to Nerdcore for the find.
