Earlier, artists James Harvey and Ryan Humphrey challenged the internet with an epic proposal: Retell Otomo Katsuhiro’s manga cult classic Akira in its entirety, using only characters from The Simpsons.
So far, Bartkira has basically blown up on Tumblr with diverse and creative submissions. Harvey has already recruited 768 people to create 6 pages each of all six volumes of Akira. We always knew there was some cyberpunk in Bart Simpson. The deadline for submissions is May 24th — until then, check out the awesome comic-hybrid monstrosities here.
