We didn’t actually go to cover the latest installment of the Red Hook Crit like we did last time, but by all accounts, the thing was pretty gnarly. There were lots of crashes. Only five people finished (as opposed to 28 at the last race). There’s an unconfirmed report of a guy who crashed in qualifying who now has facial injuries and a collapsed lung. One particularly melodramatic recounting called it “barbaric” and “well beyond the limits of fun.” Someone put together a reel of some of the crashes, which you can watch above, and there’s another angle on one of the race’s more spectacular wrecks below.
