Doo-doodoo-doodooo-doo doo-doodoo-doodooo-doo… Oh, nothing. Just singing the score to the The Wizard of Oz tornado scene when old Miss Gulch flies past Dorothy’s window on a bicycle, ’cause when I get my own sweet flying fixie, you bet your ass I’ll be soaring past your window with that song blasting from a clip-on boom box.
That’s right. The flying bicycle is now a real product, thanks to three Czech companies whose collaboration just resulted in the GREATEST THING EVER. The hoverbike weighs just over 200 lbs and is lifted into flight by six battery-powered propellers.
“Our main motivation [is] neither profit nor commercial interest, but the fulfilment of our boyish dreams,” engineering company Technodat’s Ales Koblik told Ceske Noviny, according to Wired UK.
While we are unlikely to see Hoverbike on the market until next year (it only just passed a radio-controlled flight test using a dummy pilot), and though it will be super heavy, very expensive and pretty slow… still, WHAT.
