3D-Printed Gun Innovator Cody Wilson Turns to Bitcoin

September 25, 2013 | Andy Cush

Cody Wilson, the guy behind Defense Distributed and the controversial face of 3D-printed guns, is now turning to another bastion of techno-libertarianism: Bitcoin. He’s partnering with Bitcoin veteran Amir Taaki to create Dark Wallet, a browser plugin that hopes to present a user-friendly way to store and exchange the virtual currency.

Of course, this being Wilson we’re talking about, the idea is fundamentally anti-government and anti-taxes. “The state is basically allowed because we have all chosen to use these certain institutions to channel our activity and commerce,” he told the New Yorker. “But when we are enabled, through alternative means and technologies, to channel our commerce as we will, channel our production as we will, the state simply disappears.”

They’re hoping to launch in 2014.
