Under the Cover of Snow, Graffiti Writers Bomb Swoon’s “Sandy” Mural

January 3, 2014 | Bucky Turco

Snowstorms are important weather happenings for many graffiti artists. With the NYPD busy doing mundane tasks which require them to sit in heated patrol cars and occasionally flash on their lights and sirens, there’s not a lot of enforcement going on. This gives vandals plenty of opportunities to take advantage of otherwise hard-to-hit spots.

Or there’s the easy route — tag the Bowery Wall. That’s what happened last night when a bunch of writers such as STU, PC, TAKE, SEO, OVER, and ZA defaced Swoon’s Sandy-themed art. Way to show that charity mural!

Recently, PIXTOE also hit that wall, but he took the high road.
