Isaiah Martinez, a 15-year-old from Brooklyn, was shot in the foot Saturday for trying to cut the line at a Bushwick Foot Locker. Martinez was after a pair of Nike Foamposite Pro Yeezys, which was released over the weekend. The alleged shooter was 14.
“There were people camped out for the sneakers and Isaiah tried to cut the line,” said Edison Cartagena, a friend of Martinez’s. “They get into a scuffle and one of the guys on line left and told Isaiah he was coming back with a gun. He came back and just fired off four shots.”
Martinez was taken to Woodhull Hospital, where he was treated for his injury. “I don’t think anyone should lose their life over a pair of sneakers,” Cartagena said, reasonably. “Thankfully he’s okay. The whole thing is just crazy.”
