Introducing Stitch, a dating service that helps senior citizens find companionship, whether it’s for a hot date or a friendly trip to the theater. As Ellis Hamburger puts it at The Verge, it’s “like Tinder, but for your grandma.”
It’s not exactly like Tinder, though. For one, there’s the aforementioned option for platonic companionship, and Stitch operates on the web, not in a mobile app. It’s main similarity with everyone’s favorite dating app lies in the way it forges connections — you’ll only be notified if someone you like also likes you.
“Believe it or not, for seniors loneliness is a bigger killer than smoking or obesity,” Stitch founder Andrew Dowling told VICE. “The reality is that we need to stay socially connected, if we want to stay healthy.”
So far, Stitch is only available in California and New South Wales, Australia, but Dowling hopes to roll out worldwide availability soon.
