Fort Tilden will open again on June 29th with a day-long event. This will “kick-off the Rockaway! public art festival and celebrate the reopening of historic Fort Tilden, which has been closed due to damage from Hurricane Sandy,” organizers write in the press release.
This will be the first event of the Rockaway! Arts Festival, a collaboration between National Park Service, Rockaway Artists Alliance, the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy, and MoMA PS1, which will run through Labor Day. The opening will go from noon to 8 pm and feature art, installations and a free show by Patti Smith (who lives in the Rockaways) at the end of the night.
