In October, the city will discontinue ferry service between the Rockaways and Manhattan. Originally set up as a temporary fix after Sandy walloped the area, a lot of New Yorkers have come to love this aquatic method of commuting and don’t want to see it end. On Tuesday, the website posted the invitation that a group of local residents sent to Mayor De Blasio, asking him to ride the ferry with them on Thursday, August 28th at 5:35PM, so he could witness firsthand how vital this mode of transportation is. Apparently, he hasn’t even responded:
As of today August 26th the only response we have received to our invitation below is from Letitia James N.Y.C. Public Advocate, she will be out of State visiting family.
It seems both Helen Ho [Community Affairs Unit Mayors Office] and Kyle Kimball [President Of The Economic Development Corporation] do not feel it necessary to reply to ROCKAWAY. We are wondering if they even open emails from ROCKAWAY.
This neglect to respond is rude and neglectful, especially from Helen Ho who is the representative of the Mayor for the Borough of Queens.
