Bicycling magazine has just ranked New York City as best for bicycles, among cities with a population of 100,000 or greater. Just two years ago, NYC ranked #7. Now we’re #1! We’re #1! Despite those scary streets.
The climb is credited to all those new bike lanes — 900 miles across five boroughs and growing — as well as intersection redesign and other adjustments for increasing riders’ safety. The launch of the Citi Bikes bike-sharing program in 2013 also gave the city a rank bump.
So get at that CitiBike (do this, don’t do this) or hop on your own bike, and ride on proud. Watch out for cops. (Photo: @onesevenone)
