There aren’t too many comics who could impersonate New Yorkers in front of said tough crowd and succeed in making them laugh. But On Wednesday night, Portlandia star and Late Night With Seth Meyers band leader Fred Armisen did just that, taking suggestions of New York neighborhoods and improvising a monologue while shifting accents from area to area. He did it for almost five minutes.
The “SNL” alum was part of a line-up that included David Cross, Regina Spektor, Ira Glass, Janeane Garofalo and others, who performed at Irving Plaza for a charity show. Proceeds from the show will support Doctors Without Borders in West Africa, who are helping fight the Ebola virus.
