Katsu’s Drone Paintings Getting An LES Gallery Show At The Hole

December 19, 2014 | Rhett Jones

KATSU, the eclectic street artist, is getting a gallery show at one of the Lower East Side’s biggest galleries. The exhibit, titled “Remember the Future,” will display sculpture, video, audio and painting that, in press release language:

examine the slippages and disconnect between humans and their tools, the future and the present, in our quest for self-realization.

He’ll also be displaying some of his drone paintings that have been compared to Cy Twombly’s automatic writing — but they really just look like someone flew a drone that randomly sprayed paint onto a canvas.

We’ll be waiting to see if he throws up a big fire extinguisher tag on the front of The Hole’s Bowery location.

“Remember the Future,” will be open from January 8 to February 15, with a reception on January 8 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
