When N.W.A put the frustrations of black youth into words in the late 1980s, simply singing the truth was a revolutionary act. Their lyrics seemingly predicted the 1992 Los Angeles race riots, and “Fuck tha Police” quickly become a national anthem for the disenfranchised community. Former N.W.A members Ice Cube and Dr Dre have just released the first look at Straight Outta Comptop along with an introduction that charts the group’s beginnings, its ultimate success, and all of the controversy in between. The movie premieres August 14.
