It took them over 2 hours, but cops were able to talk a suicidal woman off the ledge and back to safety when she tried to jump off the Kosciuszko Bridge on Monday, the New York Post reports.
The woman was taken to Elmhurst Hospital. According to a witness, she is a Polish immigrant with a child who has been going through divorce proceedings with her husband.
The Kosciusko Bridge, on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway, connects Brooklyn and Queens over Newtown Creek. In January, the Department of Transportation launched a 5-year construction project that will replace the structure with two side-by-side bridges.
