Sting Operation Busts Hundreds of NYC Stores for Selling Booze to Minors

May 4, 2015 | Prachi Gupta

The State Liquor Authority has fined hundreds of stores in New York City for selling alcohol to underage persons, the New York Daily News reports.

The SLA sent in “decoys” to city pharmacies, liquor stores and bodegas across the city. Nearly 60 percent of the stories targeted sold to minors, and will have to cough up between $2,500 and $10,000 each.

To any kids who’ve been greatly inconvenienced by the bust, looks like you’ll have to stick to these hang-outs until your local store chills out again. Or just get back in the good graces of that older cousin of yours and let her handle the booze.
