Rhizome Will Give You $500 To Make Net Art

June 25, 2015 | Liam Mathews

Net art foundation Rhizome announced on Wednesday that it is accepting proposals for the second annual edition of its microgrants program. Five artists will be selected to receive $500 each to make browser-based art.

“The $500 is kind of meant to buy domain names, get you a few days off work, actually have the time to make something,” Rhizome’s assistant director Zachary Kaplan told ARTnews.

The deadline for submissions is July 23. It’s an open call, and all that’s required for application is a 150-word statement and a single sketch or image. So if you want a little bit of money to make those gifs you’ve been dying to make, this is your opportunity.
