No definitive date has been given for the completion of the third and final phase of the High Line, dubbed Section 3, but the elevated park is expected to open sometime this fall. UPDATE: opening day is September 21.
“We haven’t made a public announcement of the opening date yet, but it’s forthcoming,” wrote Christian Barclay, Communications Assistant for Friends of the High Line, in an email to ANIMAL.
So on Friday, we deployed ANIMAL Three, our flying camera, to gauge the progress of Section 3, which encompasses the area “located between West 30th and West 34th Streets to the south and north, and 10th and 12th Avenues to the east and west.”
As you can see, despite plans for this branch of the High Line to have the most untamed design aesthetics, there’s still a lot of work to be done.
