How to Keep Tweeting
After You’re Dead

February 22, 2013 | Andy Cush

So you’ve tweeted your last tweet, just before heading into the great social network in the sky. Would you rather have your feed lie unpopulated and empty for the rest of eternity, or, if you could, would you like to have it keep on tweeting, retweeting, and favoriting, long after you’ve passed beyond the physical realm?

LivesOn, a forthcoming app from creative agency Lean Mean Fighting Machine, aims to make the latter option possible by analyzing your Twitter activity and generating an artificially intelligent digital clone that can mimic you after you’ve died. The product isn’t live yet, but when it launches, its creators say you’ll be able to get your private LivesOn account tweeting immediately and provide feedback to “help it become a better you.” And when you pass, your LivesOn executor decides whether to keep the bot tweeting.

“We are at the very beginning of the build process,” Dave Bedwood of Lean Mean Fighting Machine told the Verge. “This site is very much for people to sign up now, get a second twitter account, private to them, and just watch it learn and grow. As A.I advances, then maybe we will then get into it being able to copy syntax. When you die, if you’ve had this account for a long time, it may be able to keep tweeting as you.”
