Last night, HBO Go crashed in the middle of too many people trying to legally watch the True Detective season finale, so some of you haven’t seen Rust and Marty ▒▒▒▒ ▒▒ ▒▒▒▒ ▒▒▒ “L’chaim, fat-ass!” ▒▒▒ ▒▒▒ but then ▒▒▒▒ ▒▒ ▒▒▒ and ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ holy shit ▒▒▒ ▒▒ ▒▒▒▒ ▒▒▒ FUUUUUUUUUUCK ▒▒▒▒▒!!!!!!▒▒… wow. Let’s catch up.

Designer and illustrator Nigel Evan Dennis created a beautiful True Detective tribute page featuring all the characters as minimalist renderings, demarcated as “good,” “bad,” “not quite sure,” “could be bad” and etc. Very impressed with his technique of making a naked dead strung-up girl with antlers look so crispy. There’s even a helpful diagram of the M-Brane Theory according to Rustin Cohle (“In this universe, we process time, linearly… Now, to us, it’s a sphere. But to them, it’s a circle….”)

He also did smart by setting up this store of posters — minimalist versions of Rust hallucinating, all the shit that was fiddling with during his 2012  interrogation, the voodoo object d’whatnots, the Yellow King shit, and of course, various incarnations of Rust and Marty in the powerful journey of their bromance. (You know, the next season, if there is one, will have different Detectives, right?)

Also available, this meticulous aerial rending of the 6-minute single shot sequence at the end of Episode 4.

This one.
