Watch This Bluegrass Band Play a Great Song for Bored Commuters on the Roosevelt Island Tram

March 16, 2015 | Liam Mathews

Hot Rize is a bluegrass band from Colorado. They recently took a trip to New York, where they performed their song, “A Cowboy’s Life” from their album When I’m Free, inside the Roosevelt Island Tram as it crossed the East River.

According to The Bluegrass Situation, Hot Rize had one take to perform the four-minute song during the four-minute ride. They nailed it. True to form, the commuters on the tram with the band are completely uninterested in the performance. This dude’s like, “Get out out of here with this O Brother Where Art Thou nonsense. I was trying to listen to the new Ghostface album.”

While these folks are like, “just once I’d like to go home without some thirsty-ass fools trying to force me to pay attention to them.”

Their loss, though, because “A Cowboy’s Life” is a about how the cowboy’s life is a very dreary life, which is a good thing to write a song about, and Hot Rize plays the hell out of it.
