Passenger Busted at JFK With Weed, Guns and Ammo “Hidden” In Baby Wipes Canisters

09.23.14 Rhett Jones

Carrying a Canadian passport and on her way to Barbados, 24-year-old Nyesha McPherson was busted at JFK with two disassembled .40-caliber handguns, 350 rounds of ammunition, four magazines for the guns and 58 bricks (33 pounds) of weed.

All of it was concealed in average everyday household items — boxes for baby wipes, coffee, floor-dusting sheets, lemonade mix and a box of cat litter. While carrying one or two of these items might seem logical, who flies to Barbados with all of that? What’s that — $80 worth of stuff from a grocery store?

When the authorities picked up her bags, they seemed suspiciously heavy baby wipes and coffee. She was taken into custody and charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, possession of high-capacity magazines and possession of ammunition.

Here’s the rule with carrying enough supplies to start a small cartel on an airplane. Don’t.
