Zut alors! (I always wanted to write that phrase, just like a smelly, noodled-armed under-employed Ivy League wordsmithy.) For you fellow unworldly slobs, it translates, roughly, as “What the heck!” or “Blimey!” And it applies to these new bizarre ads by CLM BBDO Paris for Alka Seltzer. The humorous minimalistic campaign, art directed and illustrated by Paul Kreitmann, is tagged “dissolve your problems.” This first layout here features a camera-swallowing pap who’s being threatened for shooting a topless French celeb (Eva Green? [NSFW!]). This Parisian ad agency—unlike the overrated, pompous Fred & Farid— is developing a reputation for excellent surrealistic print work: check out these Manix condom ads. Friday is Caturday on Animal New York! Plop-plop, fizz-fizz, oh what a great sponge my kitten is! Anyway, this cute little piece of pet abuse, via Ukraine, raises a couple of questions. One, who the hell does dishes when he’s hungover? Two, What the fuck’s up with that robe? And three, is that kitten really actually in that shot—because it sure as hell looks like it. I guess that’s why the model is wearing the one latex glove…so he doesn’t get clawed. Imagine the volume of crazy cat lady letters this baby would generate here. Hey, I’ve used my cat, Zippy the Pinhead, to dust with on several occasions. She likes it!
