As If You Needed More Reasons to Avoid Midtown

Midtown Manhattan is the most dangerous and likely place in the entire city for pedestrians to be hit by cars according to Transportation Alternatives’s newly overhauled Crashstat website. Between 1995 and 2009, there was 8,604 vehicular crashes with walkers. That’s almost twice as much as second place finisher, Jamaica, Queens, which totalled 4,741. More Community Support for Bike Lanes: Hell’s Kitchen Edition

On Wednesday night, a preliminary proposal to build protected bike lanes on 8th and 9th Avenues between 34th and 59th Street was approved by Community Board 4′s Transportation Planning Committee in Hell’s Kitchen.
