Sweet Toof Unleashes ‘Dark Horse’ On Brooklyn

Why the teeth? After Sweet Toof lost 10 friends “in a series of freak accidents,” death’s been a theme. The artist’s swollen gum motif carried over from his graffiti to his oil paintings of anachronistic, paint-wielding gents. See them take Brooklyn on horseback tonight at Sweet Toof’s solo show opening at Factory Fresh. “Dark Horse,” Sweet Toof, Apr 29 (Opening tonight, 7-10pm) – May 22, Factory Fresh, NYC

shiftwork_disorder

Isn’t Skewville’s Shift Work Disorder the hip lovechild of Guernica and Man as Industrial Palace? Oh yes. (Or no.) The street art brother duo exhibit at Factory Fresh this month, funneling the mechanics of systematized everyday existence, economic pressure and consumerist chaos into bright cubist canvases, with some “beef and hype” on the side. Take a peak at the exhibit below. Read more »

Opening tonight, Factory Fresh gallery’s newest with Boris Hoppek and Alex DiamondDAMAGE:CONTROL, in merry partnership with heliumcowboy artspace. Factory Fresh Reopens With Josh McCutchen and Pufferella

JoshMccutchen_art Pufferella

Factory Fresh reopens on February 12th with two exhibits. Hit the back room for Josh McCutchen’s “Polymetrochromanticism.” The former MTVU “Does This Look Infected” host and current Renaissance-man of the Josh McCutchen show (peep him making out with an eldery hetero who hobbled into the Gay Pride Parade… and more) will have his debut show at Factory Fresh. Paintings feature “polymorphic shapes and urban landscapes” via gentle mindfuck by colorful humanoid-blobs. Concurrently, the front-side will host Pufferella‘s “i know u are but what am i,” promising a “magical” “circus,” all new fabric creations on “sexual relations and the afterthoughts”  and whatever “Rides and Amusement provided by her friends Skewville and Plaztik mag” entails (sounds hot). Opening night show is 7-10pm.

“Polymetrochromanticism” and “i know u are but what am i,” Feb 12 – Feb 21, Factory Fresh, 1053 Flushing Avenue, Brooklyn

At “Fresh Geezers,” The London Police are celebrating ten years of work with a series of new Gotham scenes while Italian artist Galo unveils some of his latest expressive face paintings.

2012 Comes Early to Bushwick Art Gallery

faro-avoid-bloke-2012-factory-fresh1Celebrating their one-year anniversary this weekend, Factory Fresh in Bushwick opens “2012,” a group exhibition by artists AVOID, BLOKE, and FARO. Known for their imaginative letter styles, iconic characters, as well as giant spraypaint and fire extinguisher tag on the street, the trio moves indoors to build on apocalyptic visions for the end of the Mayan calendar. While it remains to be seen how these artists render these prophesies, their collective work is billed as a transition in the art world: a “changing of the guard” bringing the disciplines of graffiti and street art into greater alignment, though some would prefer they didn’t.
