Trident’s New Teeth Rebuilding, Non-Vegan Gum

Remember when gum used to be fun, ruin your teeth and actually taste good? Brands like Big Red, Fruit Stripe, Bazooka, and Big League Chew were some of the best, sugar loaded, teeth gnashing substances despite their fleeting flavor or cavity inducing ingredients. It was a much simpler time back then, and even your progressive vegan friends could chew it. Nowadays, it’s sold like toothpaste. Take Trident’s new “clinically proven” XTRA CARE gum for example. It promises to “protect, strengthen, and rebuild teeth,” thanks to the addition of Recaldent, a form of calcium derived from milk that “increases tooth remineralization (strengthening).” It’s amazing how gum has transformed into a new form of oral health care. Shouldn’t the tobacco companies be actively abusing the gum model and start creating cough suppressing cigarettes or something?
