Vice Made a Documentary About Famous Internet Cats

April 19, 2013 | Julia Dawidowicz

It was only a matter of time before Lil’ Bub, the so-called “cutest cat in the world,” got her own movie. Vice called dibs on the endeavor, and based on their just-released trailer, the documentary will be just as ridiculous and high budget as you’d expect when dealing with the runt cat video master of the internet.

“If we look at human life through a cat’s eyes, then so much of what we do seems futile,” ruminates the mysterious voice-over. We’re not sure if we’re actually supposed to take this seriously, but dammit, we’re intrigued.

Will “Lil’ Bub and Friendz” be a tongue-in-cheek commentary on the decline of civilization? An earnest analysis of sociological implications of “meme” culture? Or a shameless, get-rich-quick scheme glorifying the latest mindless trend?

“Lil’ Bub and Friendz” premiered yesterday at the Tribeca Film Festival.
