Sorry, Pirates: No More Downloading Spotify Tracks From Chrome

May 8, 2013 | Andy Cush

It’s a sad day for a weirdly specific brand of media pirate, as Spotify has plugged a loophole that allowed tracks to be illegally downloaded from the streaming music service using Google Chrome. With a non-sanctioned Chrome extension called Downloadify, users could exploit a feature of Spotify’s web player that allowed premium users to save tracks for offline listening, lifting straight from the service’s database and onto their hard drives.

No word on whether Downloadify’s surely traumatized users have heard that there are many far simpler ways to download music for free on the internet.
