Trailer for Alejandro Jodorowsky’s First Film in 23 Years

May 21, 2013 | Marina Galperina

More than two decades later, Jodorowsky will still trip you out… without psychedelics.

The Chilean-French magic-realist auteur returned to Cannes this year with his first feature in 23 years — La Danza de la Realidad (The Dance of Reality.) Shot in his hometown Tocopilla in the Chilean desert, the surreal epic echoes the memoirs of Jodorowsky’s Communist father, the political conflicts, the bloody battles… surreal circuses, weird children and melting hair.

Jodorowsky is 84 now, chillin’ on a cart with a skeleton in the new trailer above. Even with CGI effects and that heavy gloss of digital photography, Jodorowsky is still Jodorowsky. Good.
