GIF is pronounced GIF, not JIF, no matter what the tyrannical Steve Wilhite says. Just like George Lucas can go back in time and epically fuck with his greatest creations, so can the man behind the file format decide to name it the wrong thing after the fact. Comedian/songwriter Jonathan Mann recognizes this, and wrote a damned funny song (with accompanying video, which you can watch above) explaining the situation from Wilhite’s point of view.
Side note: it appears Mann has been writing a song and video every day since January 1, 2009. This is number 1,602. Shit. Here’s one from earlier this week.
