Play Through Your Own Hard Drive in This Old-School Game

August 28, 2013 | Andy Cush

In AdverturOS, a forthcoming game currently funding on Indiegogo, you literally play through your own hard drive. What does that mean? Folders become rooms, files become treasures, enemies, and other non-player characters. The further you play through the game, the deeper you travel into your drive’s file tree structure. That is to say, level one will be Applications or Library, or something like that, and the final boss will be a .MOV hidden deep inside your most secrete pr0n folder. I see you, Documents/2007/senior thesis/research/articles/dontlookhere.

Of course, if you didn’t know any of that beforehand, you probably wouldn’t realize it in-game. It looks like Castlevania or something! It looks fun.

Watch the somewhat too-informative pitch video above. The developers have reached about half of their $10,000 goal with 21 days left to go.
