The World’s End (2013)

Like Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz but w/40-yo-ish exbestbros doing a pub crawl while fighting alien robots. British but I liked — got jokes & everything 。CUZ ° SO ° FUNNY。 Ah, the futility of recapturing comforting camaraderie and rebellion of youth in the face of decades of compounding cynicism and HOLY SHIT FUCKING ALIEN ROBOTS ARE COMING RUUUUUUN!!!!  + The Sisters of Mercy references.

YOUR GOTH IDEAS FROM HIGH SCHOOL, JUSTIFICATION OF: 3.5 out of 5.0

The Sisters of Mercy references I said UGH “Young Gary” DO ME — that one bestbro (Simon Pegg) is a v specific gothy, only perceptible by trench coat & regalia & such profound reasonable sadness under his dusty charisma, even alienbots r like error, err-oh… oh… ohhh. Anyway, goths are ready for the techno-dystopian near-future, obvs.  I hear empire down.

BRITTY BRITISHNESS: 2.5 out of 5.0

Accessible to Americans 。CUZ ° FUNNY。 and themes like teenagers and blue stuff. Excellent robo-slapstick smashy smashy choreography. All parts of action sci fi com that need 2b ther r ther.

TENCHO-DYSTOPIAN NEAR-FUTURISM: 4.5 out of 5.0

It’s like Sleepy Hollow meets Stepford Wives meets cyberpunky something something. I knew there was a reason I mistrusted new technology, says large portion of world’s 40-ish-yo’s. SMASHY!
