Earlier today, we received an alert from NotifyNYC, that said there will be “20-30 aircrafts flying single file out of Sky Manor Airport at 1,100 feet down the Hudson River this afternoon at 3:30 PM.” So, we grabbed our video equipment and scrambled up to the roof of our Hell’s Kitchen office to witness this thrilling moment in aviation history firsthand.
At around 3:40pm, we watched as 20-30 very small planes flew very slowly very far away.
Good thing I sent out an all-agency email to my Mother New York colleagues, inviting them to the roof for this exciting spectacle. I contacted Sky Manor Airport and a representative that did not want to be identified said it was just a bunch of “Cessna owners” in town for a convention taking their planes out for a spin. “It’s a nice day out,” he said. “They’re just flying down the Hudson River corridor. It’s a sightseeing trip.”
Now hold on to your seats and watch this exciting footage, sped up for tolerability.
