Co-directors Jennifer Baichwal and Edward Burtynsky’s beautiful new documentary film Watermark opens in New York on April 4th. Here’s the US trailer. At about 0:30, you will have feelings. You will see sweeping aerial shots of Colorado River’s barren desert delta in 5K ultra high-definition video. You will watch a construction time-lapse at the Xiluodu, the biggest arch dam in the world and then, the score will rise and build and burst and you will think about water. You will see thirty million people simultaneously taking a sacred bath in the Ganges at Kumbh Mela in Allahabad, as you think about water, and then, if this one’s anything like Baichwal and Burtynsky’s previous film Manufactured Landscapes, you will be moved and devastated and mesmerized and very, very sorry for what you did to this planet.
