Get A Load of These Baby Falcons Who Live On Top of Bridges

The MTA released excellent photos and a video of the baby and adult peregrine falcons that live atop the Throgs Neck, Verrazano, and Marine Park Bridges. According to the MTA, every year at the end of May, DEC scientist Chris Nadareski climbs the bridges and puts identifying bands on the newly-hatched chicks. The chicks are terrified and very bitey, but they’re also totally delightful. Bird expert Yojimbot told ANIMAL that peregrine falcons are no longer endangered or even threatened, so there’s no need for the DEC to do this kind of identification work other than as a photo opportunity. But it’s a great photo opportunity! Look at these bird-dudes!
