London-based graphic designer and Proud Creative member Alison Haigh has reworked the Periodic Table of Elements with a bit of a minimalist flare.
Rather than simply categorizing each element by it’s given name, Haigh decided to forgo the customary design and created an easy-to-read periodic table denoting each element by their “electronic structure,” rather than through a complex series of numbers and letters.
Each white dot seen in the newly designed periodic table represents one electron. The chart depicts only that — the number and unique configuration of electrons of each element — the element’s electronic structures and nothing else.
Prints are available on the designer’s website. (Images: Alison Haigh)
