Kim Dotcom Launches Internet Party With Obama Impersonator

March 27, 2014 | Andy Cush

Kim Dotcom started a political party, and go figure, it’s called the “Internet Party.” In the excruciatingly long and awkward introduction video above, the Megaupload founder cavorts with Barack Obama and New Zealand Prime Minster John Key impersonators while introducing the his new organization’s ambitions. “The Internet Party was founded on the spirit of the internet, to get an open, free, fair, connected and innovative society,” reads the party’s website. “A party that will give you faster, cheaper Internet, create high-tech jobs, protect your privacy, and safeguard our independence.”

The Internet Party will operate in New Zealand, and Dotcom’s goals for the group are pretty much what you’d expect: net neutrality, cheap internet access, more tech jobs, copyright reform, a federally sponsored digital currency. New Zealanders can sign up for membership here.
