A young fellow from Chattanooga, Tennessee named David Karnauch posted a photo to Instagram on Sunday in which he’s standing on a railing in a restricted area of the Brooklyn Bridge, between the water and the roadway. He used a selfie stick to take the photo and his free hand made some sort of vague gesture. He quickly attracted the attention of the media and the NYPD after he had already climbed down.

“The person most endangered was the individual, whose goal seems to be bringing attention to himself,” Deputy Commissioner for Counterterrorism and sick burner John Miller said in statement to CBS2. “It was however, irresponsible and illegal. Had the officers patrolling the bridge arrived while he was there, he would have been arrested, as others have been.” Another urban exploring tourist who climbed the bridge, Yonathan Souid, was sentenced to 240 hours of community service last year.

Karnauch has some balls and some photography talent, as seen in the handful of other urbex photos on his Instagram. But he needs to ditch the selfie stick and stop mugging for the camera. It makes him look like a rube. You don’t see Humza Deas doing something that got banned from Disneyworld for being too annoying, you know?
