Last Rites Gallery Ends Year With Gloom and Doom

Ghastly images of conjoined twins and sinister forest people feature in Last Rites Gallery’s year end exhibitions. Craig LaRotonda’s “From The Ashes Of Angels” highlights a series of reflective paintings of pale people that Johnny Depp finds both “enchanting and unnerving.” Meanwhile, Swamp Thing-type creatures tromp through Paul Gerrard’s foggy scenes, digitally rendered in “Skins From The Shadow Circle.”

The Terrifying Faces of Fast Food

Jeff McMillan proves that there’s always new and interesting ways to demonize fast food chains. The artist made a series of paintings that offer a creatively sinister take on America’s most lovable grease-slinging icons for his Pepto Dismal exhibit that opens at the Last Rites Gallery in Manhattan this weekend. The Arabic-looking letters that spell their first names backwards are a nice touch that adds to the fear factor splendidly.

Last Rites Gallery Shows Off ‘New Breed’

This weekend, Chelsea’s Last Rites Gallery opened a showing of dark, macabre and surreal artworks. “New Breed” features the works of ten established and up and coming artists, all new to the gallery, including Reuben Negrón, Mickey M Edtinger, Sara Antoinette Martin, and Charlie Immer among others. The exhibition will be on view through August 30th at 511 West 33rd Styreet, 3rd Floor.
