After last week’s announcement that the MTA’s massive LA River roller was being buffed by the military, came an awards ceremony celebrating the waterway’s cover up as well as the arrest of its alleged vandals. Local politicians were also on hand to wax poetic and attempt to link the expensive clean up with the creation of thousands of new jobs, the fight against climate change and other important issues that nearly a million dollars should be spent on before whitewashing a glorified drainage ditch.
