Street Art Manhole Covers: Looter’s Delight


Gasp! What’s this? City commissioned street art that actually looks alright? Milan’s Fibre Optic company Metroweb sponsored 20 manhole covers from The London Police, Shepard Fairey, Space Invader, Rendo and the Flying Fortress. The manholes will remain in Milan for one or two years, capping sewers and inviting crowbar-happy scavengers from eBay to an international buffet. Full menu here.

The London Police In the Unlikley State of Kentucky

The British blokes who love to draw on public property and began their career in Amsterdam before moving onto other international destinations, The London Police, will exhibit new art next month at the BLDG Gallery, Kentucky’s only relevant cultural space. The exhibition will of course feature their signature “Lads” on canvasses juxtaposed with “local influences and architecture” and also include short films by the public space decorating duo.

The London Police and Galo Bring ‘Fresh Geezers’ to Brooklyn

Although we may have led you to believe otherwise, tonight’s BNE exhibit isn’t the only opening in town. Over in Bushwick, Factory Fresh is hosting street artists Galo and The London Police as they return to New York with their iconic characters. At “Fresh Geezers,” The London Police are celebrating ten years of work with a series of new Gotham scenes while Italian artist Galo unveils some of his latest expressive face paintings.

The London Police Go Hollywood

Carmichael Gallery opens “Brothers in Arm” next week, an exhibition by The London Police. Befitting the gallery’s West Hollywood locale, the street art duo has incorporated the area’s streetscapes, film icons, and even a Walk of fame star into their distinctive black and white designs. The show opens from 7 to 10 PM next Tuesday, September 10.

Not even the London Police can catch a break in Amsterdam. After getting permission from the owner of a building and painting a huge mural in the weed-filled city, “the City Council has threatened to remove it. Local residents are now actively rallying to save the painting.” |Wooster Collective|

Copping The London Police

The London Police are offering two limited prints for sale via Aphrodisio Art Publishing. They measure 18 x 24 inches, come in editions of 150, and come signed/numbered on archival paper. They’re selling for $150 a pop.
