Did ?uestlove Betray an NBC Cafeteria Cook?

A minor racial controversy erupted yesterday afternoon when ?uestlove posted a photo he took in the NBC cafeteria to his Twitter account, a picture of a special menu offering for Black History Month featuring fried chicken, black-eyed peas, and collard greens. In his tweet, ?uestlove posted the note, “Hmm HR?”, insinuating that the NBC brass needed to consider the whole thing racist. But the menu was prepared by a black cafeteria worker who says that ?uestlove actually discussed the menu with her and specifically requested neck bones in the black-eyed peas. Read more »

Rap Duo Doesn’t Want The Roots To Drown Out Their Comeback

In this clip, ?uestlove of The Roots expresses his disappointment with Method Man and Redman over a memo they sent requesting the house band not back them up for an album-promoting appearance on the Jimmy Fallon show, preferring two mics and a DJ instead. The drummer argues that he’s got the skills, telling Hip Hop pundit Peter Rosenberg, “Damn man, I know how to make this shit sound dirty.” Meth quickly responded in this interview and said, “I can’t rock with a band, I get drowned out.” Red kind of agreed and wants their songs from Blackout 2 to sound like they do in the studio. So don’t expect an “Unplugged” album from these camps ever, despite the band’s proven ability to make beats sound like they do on the record. |Nah Right|

?uestlove Video for RemixAmerica

Kaltura

So there’s this new video re-mixing website with some sort of “multi-partisan,” political overlay called RemixAmerica. It’s kind of like YouTube, but you can drag and drop effects and call it a remix. All we did was add an intro and outro for director Jason Goldwatch’s remixed ?uestlove video just so we could embed it here, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try harder.

?uestlove’s Blog Parodies Kanye’s

Kanye’s blog, is the rapper’ online platform to tout himself, design products (concepts especially), limited edition sneakers, Japanese toys, track bikes, Nigo, and just about every other emblem of the fast crowd. So The Roots’ ?uestlove threw up this very own parody blog that playfully busts on Kanye’s product-loving obsession. Instead of showcasing design-y shit and hard to get kicks, he shows torn sneakers and shit from IKEA. |Nahright|
