ANIMAL recently headed to Le Poisson Rouge to take in Red Bull’s Thre3style DJ competition, and chatted with first-place DJ Zeke and emcee DStroy about hip-hop culture, the makings of a good set, and the best DJs in the city.
“A lot of people get trapped in a box,” said Zeke, who’s worked with Kendrick Lamar, Rick Ross, and many others. “People consider themselves hip-hop DJs, or house DJs–I’m an all-around DJ. And I think that’s why Thre3style was great for me.”
