According to the latest Pew Research Center poll, 52 percent of Americans are cool with legalizing weed, which is one of the most encouraging developments of modern U.S. history. It’s also a marked change from the late 1960s when people who took polls really sucked: “A 1969 Gallup survey found that just 12% favored legalizing marijuana use, while 84 percent were opposed.” In other good news, only 38% of respondents are still brainwashed by government propaganda and believe that “marijuana leads to the use of hard drugs.” Compare that to 1977 when 60 percent said it was a gateway drug, a claim that has been systematically disproven, yet continues on as a political talking point in the argument for cannabis prohibition.
