This year’s Figment art festival on Governor’s Island will feature the Selfie Portrait Project, along with a bunch of other neat interactive pieces. Sort of like an IRL version of that Facebook portrait swap mixed with those Dove crime artist sketches, the self-portrait project will ask participants to take an actual selfie, write a description of themselves, and draw a portrait based on someone else’s written description.
When it’s all said and done, photos, portraits, and descriptions will all be added to a gallery online. Artist Kia Miakka Natisse just funded the thing on Kickstarter, but for a $200 donation or more, you can still get an 8×11 framed print of your portrait.
