The Mayors Office has announced today that New York is the first city to implement its very own top-level domain name. Expected to go live sometime this summer, the domain name “.NYC” will help businesses and individuals gain a competitive edge by having the rep and props and whatnot of “nyc” included directly in their website’s address.
And so: “New York City businesses and organizations with a NYC address, individuals with a primary residence in NYC, as well as those offering products or services to New Yorkers can register.” Your very own .nyc domain price will be “competitive with the market prices for other top-level domains.” In other words, .nyc domains are the new NYC rents!
