Fox News Scared to Have Pro-Weed Lobbyists Defend Their Pro-Weed Ad

July 29, 2013 | Andy Cush

Something was conspicuously missing from that Fox News clip we posted earlier today, in which the anti-drug bishop Ron Allen rails against the “horrible” nature of a pro-cannabis ad at NASCAR’s Brickyard 400 race: a comment from the Marijuana Policy Project, the ultra-successful pro-weed lobbying group behind the spot.

The Fair and Balanced news network didn’t even reach out to the organization for its side of the story, MPP communications director Mason Tvert told ANIMAL.

“We’re surprised to see Bishop Ron Allen is so supportive of the alcohol-based culture surrounding large sports events, yet opposed to even the slightest discussion about the fact that marijuana is safer than alcohol,” Tvert said. “Every objective study on marijuana has concluded that it is less toxic, less addictive, and less likely to contribute to violence than alcohol, and we fail to understand why he would prefer adults drink instead of choose a less harmful alternative.”

“If Bishop Allen is truly concerned about public health, safety, and the message being sent to young people in this country, he should join us in educating the public about the relative harms of all drugs, particularly alcohol and marijuana, which are by far the two most popular,” he added.

Why wouldn’t Fox ask the MPP for comment on its own ad? Perhaps because of all the times MPP reps like Tvert have trounced Allen and other weed critics on the air.
