The beaches of the Rockaway Peninsula will become the latest NYC public spaces to get free Wi-Fi, Parks Department Commissioner Mitchell Silver announced over the weekend. The city will provide internet access at Beach 9th through Beach 12th streets, Beach 73rd, Beach 86th, Beach 97th, Beach 106th, and Beach 116th streets, DNAinfo reports.
Good news: you’ll be able to post your Rise-filtered beach #selfies without sucking up an ounce of your monthly data allotment. Bad news: the $274 million restoration of the boardwalk, which was decimated in Hurricane Sandy, won’t be completed until 2017.
